This Thursday, we are celebrating our Charter Champions for the months of September and October. Congratulations to all those students.
Welcome
Carmen welcomed the parents to the PTA portion and handed over the meeting to Mr. Daliposki for the Principal’s Report.
Principal’s Report
Events:
Our partnerships with City Harvest, The Hort Gardening, and CAPP mandated workshops have kept our school community busy for the month of November. Students are planting, students are cooking (tacos, sushi, etc.).
Our 5th grade students attended a walking trip to IS 125. Thank you to Principal Borelli and their staff for their hospitality.
Schools were closed on November 4th for Election Day, November 11th for Veterans’ Day, and November 27th and 28th for Thanksgiving Recess.
Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, December 4th rather than November 6th. That will be a ½ day for all students. November 6th will be a full day for students. Families were already notified.
This week is our second spirit week for the month.
Parent Concerns:
The Crossing Guard at the main entrance is back.
Budget:
The school is currently down 12 students from the projected enrollment.
This shortfall requires the school to pay back $244,000.
Questions:
Bus Service Disruption: A parent asked a question regarding the new cuts on the school buses. Mr. Daliposki elaborated that the cuts will not affect all bus companies. If the child is with the Yellow, Blue, Green or Orange then these companies are not impacted by this change. Those companies affected there will be a form of compensation in place to make sure the families can go to and from school.

Volunteer Recruitment & Bylaws committee creation
Carmen asked for future volunteers for upcoming events such as Movie night and the Potlucks.
She also asked for volunteers for a Bylaws Committee. Ms. Becco explained that the bylaws were created by the DOE as a template for PTA’s to have an idea what a bylaw looks like. Each school community is different, so we need to review and customize the bylaws based on the school needs.
Four parents who volunteered to help review and finalize the bylaws. Lori McCarthy, Robinson Rodriguez, Jazmin Gallegos, and Danyxa Pineros, who will read and review the current bylaws.
Q&A
Two parents asked how to join the WhatsApp group. They were assisted and were able to join the group immediately.
