4/3/2023 - What's Happening at PS 199Q
Week in Review at PS 199Q
4/3/2023
FitzGerald Falcons!
I can’t believe that March has come to an end! The past month was filled with many celebrations and activities. First, I want to thank all the parents for supporting the “EVERY DAY COUNTS” initiative to improve schoolwide attendance. Because of your support, our overall attendance rate is above 90%!
We celebrated our March Charter Champions and Achievement Award winners on March 30th at the main building and March 31st at the annex. Congratulations to all of our winners. Thank you to the families that were able to attend this celebration.
NYC School Survey
The 2023 NYC School Survey has been extended to April 20th. Your voice is essential to improve our school and community. You can access the survey online using this link: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/reports/school-quality/nyc-school-survey
How to Access the Survey
Parents/Guardians need only their child’s nine-digit Student Identification (OSIS) Number to complete the survey. Parents will enter a lowercase “f” and their child’s nine-digit number as the survey code (e.g., f123456789) to complete their unique survey. Families can find their student’s ID number on a report card, a student ID card, or in their NYCSA account. Families should contact their child’s school if they need support identifying their child’s Student Identification Number.
Families can also take the survey by logging on to their NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) account, where they can see their student’s grades, test scores, and more.

Ramadan

NYS ELA Testing
Dear Families:
The annual New York State English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics tests for students in grades 3-8 will be administered to all students later this spring. These tests are required by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and are designed to provide important information about whether students are prepared to progress through school and graduate with the critical thinking, problem-solving, and reasoning skills they need for long-term success in school, college, and careers, and to support students in their pursuit of economic security and a choice-filled life.
These tests are just one of several measures our schools use to assess student progress: grades, report cards, writing samples, projects, assignments, and other performance-based student work are equally important. For information and answers to some of your questions, you can visit https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learning/testing/student-participation-guide
For any questions, please contact Ms. Cohen or me.
Take Your Child To Work Day is on April 27th!
If DOE students participate, schools may consider this an “excused” absence. If you are planning to participate in this day, please submit a note to your child's teacher for the absence.
What is happening this week at PS 199?
- Schools will be closed from April 6th to April 14th. Schools will resume on April 17th.
Regards,
Mr. Daliposki
